Sherborne Abbey

Welcome to Sherborne Country Market. We hold a market here in Sherborne every Thursday between 9.00 and 11.15am at the Digby Memorial Church Hall on Digby Road.  Our hall is the church hall for the Abbey, not to be confused with the Digby Hall attached to the library!  Digby Road is opposite the Abbey so it is not difficult to find and there are signs all around town pointing you in the right direction.  Please be assured of a warm welcome when you arrive; we would love to see you.

Selling plants

We have a busy plant stall with shrubs, perennials, annuals and vegetable plants for sale in season.

Home-grown vegetables and fruit in season.

The flowers we sell are all home grown.  We will always do our best to fulfil any special requirements that you may have and our flowers can always be ordered in advance.

A huge variety of preserves

A wonderful array of preserves from lemon curd and honey to marmalade, jams and fruit jellies, chutneys and pickles are on offer.

We have a mouthwatering selection of home-made cakes, cookies, tarts, meringues, breads and everything in-between.

The savouries are very popular.  We have a selection of quiches, pies, sausage rolls and pasties as well as ready meals such as cottage pies and cauliflower cheese.

On our dairy stall we sell locally produced ungraded free range eggs, Dorset Blue Vinny cheese, locally produced cheddars and butter as well as a selection of other cheeses and cream.

Coffee and a chat.

Meat is also available supplied by Hardings Farm at Buckhorn Weston near Gillingham. Hardings Farm, nestling on the edge of the Blackmoor Vale, is run by Tim and Dawn Wilton and is the home of pedigree Large Black Pigs, the rarest traditional breed of pig, Exmoor Horn Sheep and Dexter Cattle. To ensure succulent, flavoursome meat, the animals are reared very slowly and the sheep and cattle are all grass fed. The pigs are also reared slowly outdoors. After butchering, the skin of the Large Black is white and produces the most wonderful crackling. Tim and Dawn produce a variety of pork joints and cuts along with sausages, dry cured bacon and gammon. Meat can be butchered to customers’ requirements, so favourite cuts or offal can be ordered for the following week.

Our craft stall includes knitted baby clothes, cards, aprons, wood-turned items, jewellery and much more. If you can’t see what you’re looking for, just ask, and remember that items can be made to order.

Hand-knitted baby clothes and much more.  Please feel free to ask if you cannot see what you would like on display.

Coffee, tea, home-made squash and cookies are available all morning.  Why not take time to relax and catch up with friends?

We provide seasonal goods at Christmas and Easter and,at any time of the year, if you want something special please ask and we will do our best to provide.  Birthday and celebration cakes are also available and made to order.
